The Solace of Cooking
We as humans love to socialize, especially going out to restaurants, and our hearts go out to all those workers affected in these difficult times. We are generally unable to come together in public but can rediscover the healing power of sharing a delicious home cooked meal. Many of us already love to cook and find it one of the most comforting ways to relax. The fun you can have preparing a meal together, letting children help, or enjoying as a solo activity is a special and satisfying thing. Now is a great time to bring that sense of solace to your life and can be a great mental separation from the end of your day working from home. We have highlighted some of our favorite cookbooks from our stock, including a couple of mini books on drink pairing.
Personal staff highlights:
Griffin loves Nothing Fancy by Alison Roman – “I am absolutely OBSESSED with Roman’s lemon turmeric tea cake, and was thrilled to start cooking through these recipes -- intuitive but surprising, full of fresh, bright flavor, and easy enough that they actually turn out delicious every time.”
Gena loves Salt Fat Acid Heat by Samin Nosrat – “A cookbook without recipes? How can that be! As a fledgling cook, this is a great resource that teaches you how to use four key elements that empower you to create delicious food from what you have on hand. Secret: The publisher made Nosrat include some recipes, so you will have a few to get you started.”
