Virtual Event with Translators Ignacio Infante & Michael Leong
The Washington University Libraries are excited to announce the launch of the International Writers Series. A new collaboration between the International Writers Track of the Program in Comparative Literature at Washington University and the University Libraries, the series celebrates the publication of new creative works by writers and translators in the university community.
Each event in the series features an author reading and discussion. Discussions will be moderated by Matthias Goeritz, professor of practice of comparative literature at Washington University. During the fall 2020 semester, all events will take place virtually.
On November 11, Ignacio Infante, Professor of Comparative Literature and Spanish, and Michael Leong will present their translation of Vicente Huidobro’s Sky-Quake: Tremor of Heaven. Infante and Leong will be joined by Derick Mattern, who is a PhD student in the International Writers Track. Sky-Quake was published recently in a trilingual edition with the original Spanish and French. Preregistration is required.
All International Writers Series events take place from 7:00–8:00 p.m. The discussions are free and open to all, but registration is required. For more information, contact Walter Schlect, Germanic Languages and Literature and Comparative Literature Studies Librarian.
