American History -- We the People
We hear a lot of pundits and politicians say "it’s the worst it’s ever been." Not true. It’s been a lot worse than today. Reading a history book can help put all the things we are worried about in perspective. History is fascinating! And upsetting, disturbing, enlightening, and hopeful. History is complicated. Those who don’t know it are indeed doomed to repeat it. We selected some American history titles, with endless subjects to explore (starting with the U.S. Constitution), for anyone so inclined. This cornerstone document should be required reading for anyone holding public office, and it's important for citizens to read, too. We’ll share some world history recommendations next week.
