How cool is this?
Upski is coming to STL and we've been able to tie his speaking and signing in with the Screwed Again show at RAC, a collaborative installation and exhibition by nine urban contemporary artists—Christopher Burch, Daniel Burnett, Stan Chisholm, Daniel Jefferson, Kris Mosby, Chris Sabatino, Jason Spencer, Justin Tolentino, and Bryan Walsh. For 12 days leading up to the opening, the artists set up camp in the Gallery, screwing thin sheets of wood and paper into the walls before collaboratively creating a wall-to-ceiling mural. To challenge themselves further, they painted only in shades of black, white, and gray.
To support Upski’s many talents, we're partnering with local voter education and registration organizations, and local musicians and graphic artists to create a distinct and multi-layered event, emphasizing the importance of literacy, education, civic engagement, art, music and culture coming together through social action.
Officially, he's touring to promote his new book, Please Don't Bomb the Suburbs and if his speaking is anywhere near as inspiring as his writing, you will leave that night feeling like you can take on the world.
