About the Author


Herman Melville (1819-1891) was born in New York and began writing after joining the whaler Acushnet bound for the Pacific. His works include Typee, Omoo, Billy Budd, and Israel Potter.

Nathaniel Philbrick is a leading authority on the history of Nantucket Island and the author of In the Heart of the Sea, winner of the National Book Award. He lives in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Tony Millionaire is an American cartoonist, illustrator, and author known for his syndicated comic strip Maakies and the Sock Monkey series of comic and picture books.
